Starting a blog is easy. Getting a little traffic is easy. And getting your friends and family to read your blog is also easy. But getting enough traffic to make a good income, an easy income, is a little harder.
If you have a blog that is beautifully designed and are also blessed with the talent of being able to write the most fantastic content imaginable then, slowly but surely, traffic will arrive at your blog. This will enable you to then make money, again slowly but surely, by simply placing advertisements on your blog.
But the amount of money you make will always be limited to the amount of traffic you have. This is indisputable. The more traffic you have, the more money you will make. And, therefore, if you have very little traffic, you will make very little money.
So, what can a new blogger do to get a huge amount of traffic for their blog?
It was when numerous text link advertisement companies contacted me recently that the solution formed in my mind. The text link brokers were willing to pay me large amounts of money in exchange for simple, and almost invisible, text links in my blog posts. The text link brokers were attracted to Upstart Blogger because it has such a huge amount of traffic, over 10,000 unique visitors a day and climbing, and, perhaps more importantly, a highly coveted Google Page of 7.
I was offered a recurring monthly payment of $400 for a simple text link in any single blog post. $400 a month for 1 link in 1 post.
If I took 20 links, placed them in 20 posts, I would instantly make an extra $8,000 every month At first this sounded like a great idea. However, Google doesn’t like text link brokers and have been known to punish those who engage in cash for links deals.
Many high profile bloggers have attempted to get around this issue by offering to review new blogs for cash. The new blogger pays a few, usually several hundred dollars, in return for a blog review on a high traffic blog. The high traffic blog then shines a light on the new blog, the new blog gets traffic and a page rank push from the established blog and everyone is happy.
Happy until the new blogger realises that hundreds of dollars spent on a blog review is only a good deal if the blog doing the review has enough traffic and a high enough page rank.
But this arrangement still raises issues with Google since it is, effectively, bribing an established blog into writing a review in order to grab traffic and game Google. And, rightly so, Google hates to be gamed.
There is, however, a solution.
When I decided to withdraw all of my digital products from sale I did so partly because I realised that selling information is waste of time for the simple reason that information is free. There is not an ebook in existence that isn’t available for free online somewhere else. No information online is worth paying for and if never will be. Anyone can learn anything at anytime for free.
It’s called Google. And it works pretty well.
The only thing online that has real value is traffic. Traffic isn’t free. Traffic is hard work. And when you’ve got it, you have something of real value.
Starting immediately a new weekly column will appear here at Upstart Blogger. Each week a number of blogs will be listed as suggested reading. These listings will be fully enabled links, carrying the full weight of my page rank, and will be seen by over 10,000 people.
Getting listed on that column will drive a substantial amount of traffic to your blog, giving it exposure to over 10,000 new readers whilst giving your Google Page Rank a very effective push in the right direction.
